The group left the museum around 11 am and travelled to the British High Commission, which was nicely air conned, making us feel like we were back at home! Once there Ashleigh did an amazing presentation on our charity to us and some important people that worked there. After we got a group photo with the British High Commissioner. She was very friendly, but is leaving the job next week.
Following this, walked to a busy spot for lunch. I had a chip omelette (which was surprisingly nice and filling), but other options were fish or chicken and chips.
Once we had eaten, we caught a busy bus to the markets which were equally as busy. We were greeted with the sights and smells of a plethora of Tanzanian foods. Fragrant ginger, vibrant beans and peas and pungent fish. We were shocked by the sheer amount of items on offer. It was exciting to see the place where regular Tanzanian families would come for their everyday shopping needs.
The Dala Dala back to the Salvation Army was hot and slow, but not long after we tucked into a hot plate of vegetable curry and rice. We were all excited when the tomato pasta and watermelon was brought out, which was delicious.
Later we sang a combination of Tanzanian and English songs with a short arrival from Carly dressed only in a towel after an encounter with a lizard! We were taught the Tanzanian national anthem as well as many others.
In the evening we attempted to pack our bags. This was a big struggle and we all wished our Mums were there to help us, I have no idea how it all fit in so neatly at home!
